Two Killed, One Wounded in Separate Shooting

ORMOC CITY – Two people were killed, and a woman badly injured, in two separate shooting incidents that happened in this city on June 3, Wednesday.

The first incident transpired at the highway of Cogon, this city. One Albert Christian, 27, an employee of the lending firm here, was shot on the head by motorcycle-riding assailants at around 8:50 in the morning, as he was on the way to the city from his home in Brgy. Dolores.

Sr. Insp. Rio Tan, chief of police of Station I, said that witnesses told investigators that two suspects wearing bonnets on board a motorcycle with no plates appeared behind the victim, and shot the victim fatally on the back of his head with caliber 45.

They are looking into allegations that the victim was romantically involved with a married woman. They are also eyeing another angle which could be related to his work with the lending firm.

In the afternoon of the same day, at 4:45 PM, a live-in couple who were checked in at the Bayview Hotel at Brgy. Alegria here since May 23 yet, was shot at by two unidentified men inside the hostel.

Killed was Claudio Borrico, a sub-contractor of MacBuilders, Inc., who suffered various gunshot wounds on his neck, body and hands. His live-in girlfriend, Janice Tampos, who also suffered gunshot wounds, is currently confined at the OSPA-Farmer’s Medical Center.

Sr. Insp. Maturina Diaz, chief of police of Station II, said the woman is now out of danger but they could not interview her yet because doctors had just operated on her. They are ruling out crime of passion as an angle because while the duo was both married to different people, they were already separated from their previous partners and have been living in together for years already.

The police chief said that they have asked for the security tapes of the hostel, but admitted to difficulty in identifying the suspects because the quality of the video was not good and the two wore caps. They are tapping on the expertise of some IT people to help them get a clearer picture of the suspects.

Sr. Insp. Diaz said that they also noted the lack of forced entry into the room of the two victims. The Scene of the Crime investigators recovered 12 empty shells from the room.
