ORMOC CITY – The first ever SM mall in Eastern Visayas finally opened its doors to in this city, 16th of November 2018 at around 11:00am with a cutting-of-ribbon ceremony led by Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, Congresswoman of the 4th District of Leyte Lucy Torres-Gomez, Ormoc City Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin Jr., and Mabuhay Capital CEO and President Lito Sibayan.
They were joined by Chair-man for Executive Committee Hans T. Sy, SM Markets Vice Chairman Herbert T. Sy, SM Prime Holdings Inc. President Jeffrey Lim, and Most Reverend Felomino Bactol.
Located in the heart of Or-moc City, along the banks of the Anilao River, SM Center Ormoc is SM Prime Holding’s 72nd mall and the 7th in the Visayas region. Ormocanons flooded SM Cen-ter Ormoc, literally, as the mall opened its doors to the public at exactly 3:00pm of the same day.
Employees, together with Ms. Elevator Girl, entertained the opening guests and welcomed all the shoppers who, accordingly, were waiting outside the mall doors since 9:00am.
Everybody then went gaga and crazy over actress, Barbie Emperial, who came to greet and meet her fans later in the afternoon. The appearance of Rhian Ramos who was at the mall to promote her movie, “Kung Paano Siya Nawala”, was warmly welcomed as well.
The Ormoc skies were then lighted up by the Grand Fireworks Display courtesy of SM Center Ormoc at around 7:00pm. The following day, 17th of November, the techies were given an opportunity to meet internet sensation and influencer, Hay Malaya, at the mall’s ground level activity area.
Furthermore, on November 18 and 25, Christmas comes to SM Center Ormoc with their Christmas Parade at 5:00pm around the mall to bring joy and cheers to all kids and the kids-at-heart.
SM Center Ormoc is located on a 15,782 square-meter site. Together with SM mainstays such as BDO, Ace Hardware, Appliance Center, Watsons, Sports Central, Simply Shoes, Miniso and Crocs, the SM Hypermarket is the mall’s major anchor, which paves the way to shopping fun.
The mall also has a National Bookstore, an eyewear center in the EO shop. Customers might also like David’s Salon located on the third f loor of the mall.
Meanwhile, for those who love to go on food trips, the mall has a lot of options to choose from international and national food chains to include Max’s Fried Chicken, Macao Imperial Tea, Dimsum Break, BreadTalk and so many more.
Finally, there is the 64th SM Cinema of the SM chain of malls inside SM Center Ormoc.
