DRUG TRAFFICKING and its consequential evils topped a survey conducted by a team of young graduates from the University of the Philippines as the most pressing problem that they see in Ormoc City.
Next was widespread poverty and third, disunity among the leadership which respondents claimed led to more problems.
The survey was conducted on 1,317 respondents, 71.3% of which identified the drug trade in the city as its number one menace.
55.7%, on the other hand, said it was poverty and 26.2% said it was disunity among the leaders.
Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, who is hosting her 2nd Surgical, Medical and Dental mission with the doctors of the Society of Philippine Surgeons in America (SPSA) was happy that the City Government of Ormoc has followed her lead and also hosted a similar mission. “You see, it just takes one to lead a good example and others will follow”, she said.
