ISABEL, LEYTE – A village chairman in this industrial town was put under a 60-day preventive suspension for an alleged anomalous purchase of a “surplus” vehicle that was converted into an ambulance, but which turned out to be owned by his father.

The Sangguniang Bayan of this town recommended the suspension of Paterno R. Hermoso Jr., village chair of Brgy. Sto. Niño, after he failed to submit his answer to the allegations against him. Hermoso asked for an extension of 15 days to file his answer, but did not, and instead asked for another 15-day extension again. The SB did not grant him an additional extension, saying it was a waiver on his right to present evidence to refute the charges against him. read more
