Magnaan presented on the morning of Friday, September 20, to Mayor Richard Gomez, three molesters and rapists wanted in the city that they arrested in three manhunt operations in Luzon.
Arrested were Magno Laroya y Corosa, 68, a resident of Brgy. Mas-in, who faces five counts of Acts of Lasciviousness after he victimized a 6-year old; Juanito Yahot y Donayre, 40, a resident of Brgy. Mahayahay who faces a charge of rape filed against him by a 9-year old; and, Leolino Talatayod y dela Cerna, 52, a resident of Bonifacio Street in Brgy. The three were arrested in Laguna, Cavite and Taguig, respectively. Handling magistrates Ma. Corazon V. Naraja, Girlie Borrel-Yu, and Mario Quinit, have all recommended “no bail” for all of them.
Col. Armel Gongona, police city director, said that the successful manhunts were done in coordination of the local police in Laguna, Cavite and Taguig. He also warned that with today’s technological advances, it is easy to hunt fugitives from the law. He also credited the people’s trust in the police for the crime solution, and Mayor Richard Gomez’s all-out support to their police operations.
Mayor Gomez and Councilor Goito Yrastorza, committee chair on peace and order, on the other hand, said they would continue to support Ormoc police operations to maintain the city’s status as the most peaceful city in the country in 2017 and 2019.
“We want to maintain Ormoc’s status as safest in the country and we can only do that if the LGU, the police and the people work together,” said Mayor Gomez who is pleased that at the first day of office from his vacation, he was met by an accomplishment from the police. He congratulated the Ormoc police for a “job well done” and asked that his thanks be extended to the police in Luzon who helped them make successful arrests.
