Ormoc unveils “RESBAKUNA: Kasangga ng Bida” vaccination plan, deployment strategies

ORMOC CITY – On April 7, 2021, Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez of Leyte 4th District and the Ormoc Development Team (ODT) led by birthday celebrator City Mayor Richard I. Gomez attended the RESBAKUNA event marking the launching of the Ormoc City COVID-19 vaccination plan and deployment.

Dr. Edmund Kierulf of the City Health Department discussed the Ormoc City COVID-19 Vaccination Plan. He emphasized the prioritization of vaccine recipients as well as answered frequently asked questions, such as: Who can be vaccinated? What is the best vaccine? How effective are vaccines?

The good doctor also shared the adverse effects following immunization, and busted the myths around the vaccines during his discussion.

Meanwhile, Forester Rosilyn Sanchez of the city’s Environment and Natural Resources Office talked about the Health Care Waste Management System that the city will be following during the deployment of the COVID-19 vaccination plan.

On the other hand, Engr. Domardoni Cayanong of the city’s General Services Department, Ciriaco A. Tolibao of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and City Director Ramil Ramirez of the Ormoc City Police Office discussed logistics that will be undertaken by the city such as the deployment of service vehicles once the vaccination program starts and setting up of iron grills in each district offices for the safety of the vaccines, the contingency plan in case of unforeseen events, and the deployment of personnel, security plan on COVID-19 vaccination, emergency response situation and task organization.

Finally, Nurse Jester Zacarias from the City Health Department discussed the masterlisting of recipients and the steps involved in the Ormoc City COVID-19 Vaccination Registration Process. Ending the program were brief inspiring messages from the members of Ormoc’s 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin, Jr., who encouraged Ormocanons to get vaccinated.
