Accordingly, with the arrival of the procured Astrazeneca vaccines, the city government has started its vaccine rollout to the general public per barangay.

The first to receive the vaccines this week are the 10 villages with the most COVID-19 cases logged since 2020 with priority lanes being designated for A2 to A5 categories.

At the vaccination site, residents were asked to present identification cards with their address, while workers in the barangays were asked to present their mayor’s permit and certificate of employment.

Mayor Richard Gomez earlier announced that the city government would procure vaccines for at least 80 percent of the city’s population upon recommendation of the Ormoc City COVID-19 vaccine council. Mayor Gomez further said that some Php 350-million has been earmarked for the said vaccination program. Primarily, for the purchase of some 270,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine. By Marie Tonette Marticio
